SEER Project Gets Underway

Back on the 16 January, Stuart Lewis and Luka Hans from TWI’s Adhesives, Composites and Sealants Section, and Anna Wojdyla-Cieslak from Functional Coatings and Resins, along with commercial officer Lynne Baker attended the kick-off meeting for the SEER H2020 collaborative project in France.

The 36-month SEER project is aiming to develop a smart self-monitoring composite tool for aerospace composite manufacturing. The tool will work by using silicon photonic multi sensors embedded with through thickness reinforcement techniques.

The partners in this multi-national consortium are the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems from the National Technical University of Athens, Loiretech Ingenierie, Airtificial Aerospace and Defence SAU, INTERUNIVERSITAIR MICROELECTRONICA CENTRUM, Engineering Technology Solutions Greece, Cranfield University, Argotech As, Aernnova Engineering Division SAU, Brunel University London and Elliniki Enosi Fotonikis Astiki Mikerdoskopiki Etairia (HPhos).
